Police are appealing for information following the death of a man in the state's south earlier this year.
About 1pm on Sunday 8 September 2024, a 70-year-old man set off for a ride on the bike trails in Uranquinty, about 17km south-west of Wagga Wagga; however, he failed to return later that afternoon.
Family members launched a search and when they couldn't locate the man, they contacted police.
About 7.30pm, officers from Riverina Police District were notified and commenced a search, with assistance from Fire and Rescue NSW officers.
About 8.30pm, the man's body was located about 10km south of the Rodham's Fire Trail off Rodham Road between the Kapooka army base and Uranquinty.
Police searched the area and located a low strung makeshift barb wire fence nearby, which has been seized for forensic examination.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
Following extensive inquiries, police are appealing for public information and anyone who may have visited the Rodham's Fire trail on the day or days leading up to Sunday 8 September 2024 to contact Wagga Wagga Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
