2025 Employee Benefits Open Enrollment

Annual Open Enrollment begins on Monday, October 28, 2024, and ends Friday, November 15, 2024. The benefit elections you make during Open Enrollment are effective January 1, 2025.

All benefit eligible employees must complete their open enrollment benefits elections online via Banner Self-Service if you wish to make any changes for the new calendar year.

Open Enrollment elections are in effect for the entire calendar year unless you experience an IRS "qualifying event" (i.e. change in marital status, birth/adoption of a child) and your change must be completed with the Department of Human Resources within 30 days of the event.

2025 Plan Year Highlights

During Open Enrollment, you can:

• Make changes to, or enroll in, Medical and Dental benefits.
• Enroll or re-enroll in the health care and/or dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). 2025 maximum contributions are $3,300 for Healthcare FSA with a $640 carryover and $5,000 Dependent Care FSA. Dependent Care is only used to provide either child or adult care for you to be able to work and does not have a carryover component. If you do not wish to participate in flexible spending accounts for 2025, you do not need to take any action.
• Enroll in Voluntary benefits. Please refer to the benefits website to review the voluntary benefits offered at the university.

Benefits Fairs

This year we will be hosting Open Enrollment Benefits Fairs for you to attend.
There will be three in-person dates that you can speak to our various vendors as well as members from SHU Benefits Team.

Please mark your calendars for:

• October 29, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Newark Campus, Faculty Library
• November 6, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - South Orange Campus, Bethany Hall Room A
• November 12, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Nutley/Clifton Campus. IHS Winter Garden Lobby

While visiting the in-person sessions, don't forget to enter to win a prize provided by our benefit vendors. Prizes will be selected randomly from those who enter, and the winners will be notified after Open Enrollment concludes.

During the in-person sessions, be sure to sign up for a complimentary 10-minute massage chair session with a licensed massage therapist. Email [email protected] to schedule your massage for the date we will be at your campus.
