On July 30, 2024, State Police arrested Carmen J. Daniele, 43, of Saratoga Springs, NY, for:
On April 10, 2024, State Police of Clifton Park received a complaint from a Halfmoon business reporting a past shoplifting incident. The investigation determined on March 1, 2024, Daniele reportedly entered the store and stole merchandise valued at over $600. He was later identified with the assistance of the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center (CRAC) and the SUNY Albany Police Department. After being unable to locate Daniele, a warrant was issued for his arrest related to this crime.
On July 20, 2024, State Police of Brunswick responded to a report of a past theft from a Brunswick Store. The investigation determined on July 13, 2024, Daniele allegedly entered the store and swapped barcodes on items, resulting in underpayment for merchandise and theft.
On July 30, 2024, at about 7:43 p.m. Troopers observed Daniele driving a vehicle in the area of 126th Street in Troy, NY. Knowing Daniele had multiple active warrants for his arrest and was the suspect in the previously listed crimes the Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Daniele failed to comply, and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued through Waterford, Halfmoon, and Clifton Park. It ended in Halfmoon, NY, after Daniele recklessly drove southbound in the northbound lanes (wrong way) on I-87 in the area of the Thaddeus Kosciusko Bridge (Twin Bridges). He eventually stopped his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody. Northbound lanes of I-87 were briefly closed for public safety concerns and investigative purposes.
Daniele was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing on all charges. He was arraigned in the Halfmoon Town Court, where he was released on his own recognizance. Daniele has multiple future court dates set in various jurisdictions.
