Route 4038 Layton Road Bridge Short-Term Closures Begin Monday in Fayette County

Uniontown, PA-Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing short-term, daytime closures of Tunnel Road and Layton Bridge, Route 4038 (Layton Road) over the Youghiogheny River, between Falbo Road and Circle Street in Perry Township, Fayette County.

The closures are scheduled to begin Monday morning, October 21, will occur daily between school bus hours only (8:40 AM-2:00 PM), and are anticipated until Friday, October 25. All work depends on weather and operations.

A detour will be posted:

  • Route 4038 (Independence Street)
  • Route 4017 (Liberty Street/Cemetery Road)
  • Route 201 (Flatwoods Road/Main Street)
  • Route 1010 (Dickerson Run Road/Front Street)
  • Route 819 (Dawson Road/Main Street/Second Street)
  • Route 1041 (River Road/School Road)
  • Route 1002 (Banning Road)
  • Route 4038 (Layton Road)


Crews from Allison Park Contractors will replace asphalt with concrete at the expansion dams as part of the Layton Bridge Projects' current $4.3M preservation investment.

Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
