PHILADELPHIA - The City of Philadelphia released road closure information for The Philly 10Ktaking place on Sunday, August 25.
Race Weekend Activities & Information
The Philly 10K, now in its 11th year, features a course that takes participants through the heart of South Philly. The race begins at 7:30 a.m., along the 800 block of South Street.
The Philly 10K race weekend is introducing two new events for this year: The Philadelphia Runner Mile and The Kids Dash.
The Philadelphia Runner Milewill guide participants through FDR Park on a flat-out and back course as part of the Diadora Kickoff Party festivities. The event will take place on Friday, August 23, beginning at 6 p.m.
The Kids Dashfeatures a short-distance, non-competitive event for youngsters two to four years old. This event will take place in FDR Park on Sunday, August 25, beginning at 10 a.m.
The Philly 10Kis a rain or shine event. If an extreme weather scenario affects The Philly 10K on race day, participants will be alerted as soon as possible. Traffic delays can be expected. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, avoid areas along the race course, allow for extra driving time, and proceed with caution during race weekend.
Road Closures
The following street will be closed beginning at 1 a.m. on Sunday, August 25 until approximately 2 p.m. for the post-race festival:

The following streets will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 25 and will reopen as the race concludes:
Motorists and pedestrians can expect delays when trying to cross roads or streets along the race course. Police will allow traffic through intersections when possible, depending on the flow of race participants. Street closures will be implemented on a rolling basis and will be lifted as runners go by and roads are serviced. All streets (with the exception of the post-race festival area) are scheduled to be reopened no later than 12 p.m. on Sunday, August 25.

Parking Restrictions
The above-listed streets will be posted as "Temporary No Parking" zones from 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 25. Motorists must adhere to "Temporary No Parking" signs. Vehicles parked in these locations during posted hours will be relocated. If you believe your car has been relocated, call the police district of the areawhere your car was parked.
Public Transportation
SEPTA Bus Routes 12, 23, 29, 40, 45, 47, 47M, 57, 64 and 79 will be detoured from their normal routes beginning at midnight on Sunday, August 25 through approximately noon.
Detours will be posted, and specific route changes are available on the System Status Page at septa.org.
Participants are strongly encouraged to use public transportation to get to the race. For folks using the SEPTA Broad Street Line, you can exit at the Lombard-South Station. For folks traveling from New Jersey via PATCO, you can exit at the 9th/10th and Locust Street Station.
Public Safety Information
Throughout the event, the City will provide law-enforcement support, traffic control, and emergency medical services for the event and in the surrounding vicinity.
Attendees should never leave bags or other items unattended. In the event of an emergency or to report a suspicious person, activity, or item (backpack, package, container, etc.), notify a police officer immediately or call 9-1-1. Do not try to open, move, cover or touch a suspicious item.
