Deputy Secretary Verma’s Travel to Iowa

Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard R. Verma will travel to Des Moines and Cedar Falls, Iowa from October 7 to 9. Deputy Secretary Verma will meet with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and underscore how the United States is finding local solutions to shared global challenges while advancing the use of technology, boosting the U.S. economy, and making Americans safer.

During the visit, Deputy Secretary Verma will speak with political science students at the University of Northern Iowa and deliver a Presidential Lecture on foreign policy, U.S. leadership, and public service. He will meet with former Iowa Governor and U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad, Mayor Quentin Hart of Waterloo, Mayor Danny Laudick of Cedar Falls, and civic and business leaders to discuss foreign and trade policy, how the State Department contributes to Iowa's economy, and more.
