Lankford, Abraham Accords Caucus Members Commemorate Four-Year Anniversary of Historic Agreement

WASHINGTON, DC - Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), and Cory Booker (D-NJ), co-founders and co-chairs of the Senate Abraham Accords Caucus, released the following statement commemorating the fourth anniversary of the Abraham Accords signing.

"The Abraham Accords have opened the door to unprecedented cooperation between Israel and Arab nations," said the Senators. "In the face of increased Iranian aggression, the foundation of this agreement is more important than ever to further cooperation in the region to deter threats from Tehran and its proxies. Regional cooperation is what Iran's regime fears, and the very existence of these agreements will lead to a more peaceful future for the Middle East. As we celebrate four years since this historic signing, the US should continue building on the Accords by bringing our partners together, helping advance prospects for peace, restoring prosperity in the region, and widening the circle of partnerships."

Lankford also shared a video on the anniversary of the historic agreement. The Senate Abraham Accords Caucus has been the leading group in the Senate pushing for actions that build on these historic agreements. The co-chairs have worked to advance regional security by introducing the DEFEND Act, which established an air and missile defense architecture with Israel and other Middle East allies after it was signed into law. They also introduced and passed into law the MARITIME Act, which required the Department of Defense to develop a strategy with partners and allies in the Middle East to counter maritime threats posed by Iran and its proxies.
