Plans for High-Speed Rail coming to Grand Prairie

Plans for High-Speed Rail coming to Grand Prairie

Published on July 19, 2024

Grand Prairie residents will have the chance to learn more about high-speed rail plans linking Fort Worth, Arlington and Dallas at an open house hosted by The North Central Texas Council of Governments from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Tony Shotwell Life Center September 6.

It's one of four open house events hosted by the NCTCG in Fort Worth, Arlington, Grand Prairie and Dallas. The open houses will encourage an open dialogue, similar to meetings held during the first phase of the study in 2021, according to the NCTCG. A short video and presentation boards will detail different high-speed technologies and illustrate the recommended route.

The preferred route runs along Interstate Highway 30 between downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth, with a stop in the Arlington Entertainment District, according to the NCTCG.

The proposed high-speed rail system is designed to alleviate increased highway traffic in North Texas, stemming from population increase of 3 million more residents in the 12-county metropolitan area by 2045, according to NTCTCG estimates.
