Each month in 2024, USGBC will share a handpicked education course or two about a specific aspect of green building that will be free for that month only. For the month of August, take advantage of a free course on promoting human health in LEED v5 through biophilic and universal design.
Inclusive Pathways to Health in LEED v5: Harnessing Biophilic and Universal Design
Intermediate level | 1 CE credit | USGBC session at Greenbuild 2023 | Webinar format
LEED v5 is deeply focused on identifying and alleviating the actual, most critical threats to occupant physical health, and it considers mental health and wellness more in depth than ever before. Through strategies like biophilic and universal design and improvements to existing strategies like daylight, quality views and thermal comfort, mental health and well-being will be at the forefront of LEED going forward. By incorporating more universal and inclusive design principles, LEED will empower projects to design for physically and mentally diverse populations. This not only means improving access to spaces and amenities throughout the building, but also approaching existing strategies, like acoustic design, thermal comfort and lighting through a new lens.
