WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Office of Justice Programs' Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention announces the National Conference on Youth Justice: Shaping the Next 50 Years. Co-sponsored by OJJDP and the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the event takes place Nov. 19-21, 2024, at the Washington Hilton, in Washington, D.C.

The three-day event will bring together more than 2,400 youth justice practitioners, young people and families, grantees, researchers and other stakeholders from across the country who are committed to achieving equity and justice for youth. Featuring more than 80 workshops, 2 plenary sessions and various networking events, the conference serves as an opportunity not only to highlight the important work and mission of OJJDP, but to learn from subject matter experts, practitioners and those with lived experience.

This conference culminates OJJDP's yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act, the landmark legislation that set federal standards to protect youth in the justice system and established OJJDP to support local and state efforts to prevent delinquency and improve the justice system.

Only the plenary sessions on Tuesday and Thursday are open to the media.

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act. Signed into law on September 7, 1974, the act established OJJDP to support local and state efforts to prevent delinquency and improve juvenile justice systems. Through its divisions, OJJDP sponsors research, program and training initiatives; develops priorities and goals and sets policies to guide federal juvenile justice issues; disseminates information about juvenile justice issues; and awards funds to states to support local programming.
