Social Work Graduate Students Engage in International Learning Experience in Germany

Monmouth University social work graduate students, Michaela Foley, Kristina Horvathova, Jenna Manfre, Liseth Rodriguez, Arianna Smith, and Nicholas Zangrilli recently spent two weeks in Germany, attending the German Society for Clinical Social Work Conference and collaborating with students from Catholic University of Applied Sciences.

During their visit, Monmouth students held formal meetings with their German counterparts to explore social segregation and gentrification in their respective counties and regions. They also delivered joint presentations on educational paths and career opportunities for social workers in the U.S. and Germany.

The students gained valuable insights into clinical social work practice through hands-on learning experiences at the Aachen and Cologne branches of the German university, including visiting social welfare sites.

Joelle Zabotka, Ph.D., associate professor in the School of Social Work, and Sanjana Ragudaran, Ph.D., assistant professor in the School of Social Work, also attended the conference. Zabtoka served as a keynote speaker at the event, discussing current trends within clinical social work in the United States.
