Casa de los Sueños: A new chapter in supportive housing

Published on December 10, 2024

On Wednesday, the Fort Worth community celebrates the grand opening of Casa de los Sueños, a groundbreaking housing initiative dedicated to supporting Fort Worth families with children experiencing homelessness. Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Trail neighborhood, this development promises to be a beacon of hope for many.

Why it matters: Casa de los Sueños is more than just housing - it's a lifeline. Designed with a comprehensive approach, it offers the 55 families who live there access to professional, educational and health-related services, setting the stage for long-term stability and success so that residents can permanently exit homelessness and continue to remain on their feet.

As the first facility of its kind in Fort Worth, the hotel conversion marks a significant milestone in local efforts to reduce family homelessness. It also marks the City's continued efforts to revitalize the Las Vegas Trail neighborhood.

What they're saying: "Our investments in revitalizing Las Vegas Trail continue to pay off, with Casa de los Sueños as the latest success story," said District 3 Councilmember Michael D. Crain. "This project not only helps families in need get back on their feet, but also turns this former blighted hotel property into a beautiful community asset."

A collaboration that matters

This project has been made possible through a combination of public and private funding. Key contributions include:

  • Tarrant County ARPA funding: $8 million
  • City of Fort Worth contributions: $2,578,000 (including $1.5 million from the Community Development Block Grant)
  • Private capital contributions secured so far: $1,875,000, with significant support from Ojala Partners, Fort Worth Housing Solutions and other charitable foundations.
