Auto Club: Gas Prices Slightly Decrease Statewide

Gas prices in Southern California decreased slightly ahead of entering the fall season. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.71, which is five cents lower than a week ago. The average national price is $3.22, which is the same as last week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.56 per gallon, which is three cents lower than last week and one dollar and fifty-seven cents less than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.65, which is four cents lower than last week and one dollar and forty-one cents lower than this time last year.

On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.67, which is three cents lower than last week and a dollar and 30 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.42, which is six cents less than last week and one dollar and fifty-five cents lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.59 average price is three cents less than last week and one dollar and seventeen cents lower than a year ago today.

"If there's ever a time of year to hit the open road, it's now," said Auto Club Spokesperson Doug Shupe. "In many parts of the U.S. and in California, temperatures are dipping and leaves are changing, creating the perfect conditions for a picturesque fall getaway and SoCal drivers filling up for autumn road trips will find pump prices more than a dollar less than this time last year."
