Bronx, NY - On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson joined Planet Fitness, Good Shepherd Services, Men Let's Talk Initiative, Bronx Works Fatherhood Initiative, NYC Children ACS, Spreading Love Foundation, Inc., Friends 2 Fathers, STRIVE, Bronx Father's Taking Action, and others in the Gymnasium at P.S. 246 Poe Center, located at 2641 Grand Concourse to kick off Movember, a Men's Health Resources Fair. Speakers addressed the importance of pre-cancer screening, which helps doctors locate cancer at an early stage when it's easier to treat and possibly cure. NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi's George Lederer, Psy.D., Inpatient Psychiatry; and Psychiatry Specialist, Dr. Ignacio Medina, provided remarks on how men respond to mental health challenges through support groups, as well as treatment options and counseling available for those dealing with anxiety, depression, and more. Rasheeda Peterson, Associate Director of Sales at MetroPlus Health Insurance, was there to talk about health care coverage.

Following remarks, close to a dozen fathers took part in a live workout session sponsored by Planet Fitness.
