Routine repair work planned for I-27 corridor bridges

HALE CENTER - Motorists traveling I-27, in Hale and Swisher counties over the next few months can expect various main lane closures at several bridge locations along the corridor as the Texas Department of Transportation begins work on a $1.4 million routine bridge maintenance project.

"The lane closures will give work crews the space needed to make repairs to bridge decks, joints and concrete guardrail on several structures along I-27," said Heath Bozeman, P.E., TxDOT Plainview Area engineer. "Work is scheduled to begin Monday July 8, in Hale Center at the bridge located at 12th Street. Drivers should expect daily lane closures."

I-27 bridges located at 24th Street in Plainview, and North Tule Draw, Middle Tule Draw and US 87 in Swisher, and a bridge on SH 86 at South Tule Creek, also in Swisher County, are included in the project.

"Motorists can anticipate various lane closures on the I-27 mainlanes when work begins at each bridge location and should drive with caution through the work zone, be on the lookout for workers and avoid distractions for their own safety and the safety of the workers," Bozeman said.

ICOS Management, LLC, of Frisco, TX, is the project contractor.

Work will take place weather permitting, with the project scheduled to be completed in summer 2025.
