PR No. 295 NDMA Monsoon Weather Impact Report 2-5 September 2024 Islamabad: August

National Emergencies Operation Center anticipated that several regions in Pakistan are expected to experience moderate monsoon rains from 2nd to 5th September 2024. Under the system, Northeastern Punjab is likely to expect moderate rainfall. Potohar region will experience moderate downpours, whereas Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Islamabad will likely see moderate rainfall. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Malakand and Hazara divisions, Peshawar will experience moderate level precipitation. Areas of Balochistan including Kalat division, Quetta, Pashin and Foot hills of Kirther and Suleiman range will likely experience moderate rainfall during the same period. Light to moderate showers are expected in Northern Sindh. Moderate rains can still lead to localized flooding and other weather-related hazards. General public is advised to avoid visiting the seaside and beach areas and remain cautious of loose structures like billboards, electrical poles, solar panels and hoardings. The public is also advised to stay informed by keeping track of weather updates and alerts. NDMA has launched the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application, available on Google Play Store and iOS App Store, to provide timely alerts, advisories, and guidelines to the public. Residents of these areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow guidance from local authorities. NDMA has issued instructions to all relevant departments to take necessary precautions to mitigate the possible effects of flooding and extreme weather.
