Accessibility to SkillsFuture Courses to Boost Career Prospects for Persons with Disabilities

Name and Constituency of Member of Parliament

Mr Gerald Giam Yean Song, Aljunied GRC

Question

To ask the Minister for Education considering the low uptake of SG Enable's Capability Development Grant and the need to enhance course accessibility for persons with disabilities (PwDs) to boost their career prospects, whether the Ministry has considered mandating that all SkillsFuture-funded training providers shall implement reasonable accommodations for PwDs who will benefit professionally from the courses they offer.

Response

  1. Given the varied learning needs of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), it is more practical to take a targeted approach to help PwD learners access the training programmes that they wish to attend. Where practicable, training providers will make the needed accommodations, and can tap on SG Enable's Capability Development Grant for funding support. PwD learners who are not able to access particular courses can approach SG Enable for assistance.
