Bulgaria is an example of a bright presence of women in the government of the country, National Assembly Vice-President Rositsa Kirova told the participants in the World Women's Forum in Ulaanbaatar

Bulgaria is an example of a bright presence of women in the government of the country, National Assembly Vice-President Rositsa Kirova told participants in the World Women's Forum in the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar.

The Vice-President of Parliament made a statement on the main topic of the Forum - "For a Green Future". The event was organized by the Presidential Administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia in cooperation with the UN.

The Vice-President of the National Assembly, one of the Vice-Presidents of Parliament, the Vice-President, as well as the chairpersons of several of the parliamentary committees in Bulgaria are women, Rositsa Kirova stressed. She pointed out that since its accession to the EU, Bulgaria has nominated only women as Bulgarian Commissioner. According to the Vice-President of the National Assembly, these facts show that with perseverance and effort, a way can be paved for women both in politics and in other areas of public life.

The issues of gender equality, limiting violence, caring for children, the elderly and people with disabilities are related to the more global issues of environmental balance and regional development, Rositsa Kirova said in her statement. She stressed that the green future is being built by using more renewable energy sources for the production, transport and heating of buildings, as well as by saving resources. Bulgaria has seen an increase in the production of energy from renewable sources and in 2023 its share reached 13 percent of the amount of energy produced, the Vice-President of Parliament said. Last year, a special legislation was adopted that stimulates the use of renewable sources for heating homes, and we are also investing in environmentally friendly public transport, Rositsa Kirova added.

Bulgaria has set itself the goal of increasing the use of hydrogen in the economy and mobility, the Vice-President of the National Assembly said. In 2023, the country occupied the 12th place in terms of hydrogen production within the European Economic Zone, Rositsa Kirova added.

According to the Vice-President of the Bulgarian Parliament, in order for women to participate in the acceleration of environmental actions, they must be well educated and supported by the family and society. In this respect, Bulgaria has a significant competitive advantage, as the share of women in technology is the highest in the EU, Rositsa Kirova stressed. Bulgaria is in EU's top three in terms of share of women scientists and engineers, she added.

During the Forum, National Assembly Vice-President Rositsa Kirova held talks with the President of the Mongolian Parliament (Great State Hural) Dashzegviin Amarbayasgalan. The deepening of interparliamentary relations between the two countries was the main topic of the meeting. There was a common opinion that the cordial and friendly relationship between the two peoples from our recent past is a good basis for deepening our bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture, education, light industry and tourism.

Bulgaria values the friendly relations with Mongolia, based on long-standing traditions and shared values, the Vice-President of Parliament said in talks with Mongolia's President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh and Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene.

Bulgaria and Mongolia can cooperate in the production of goods and products according to European standards, Rositsa Kirova said at a meeting with Mongolian Minister of Agriculture and Light Industry Jadamba Enkhbayar. Bulgaria has traditionally supported the education of Mongolian students at Bulgarian universities and 10 young people are currently studying in Bulgaria in specialties related to agricultural sciences, the Vice-President of the National Assembly emphasized.

Minister Jadamba Enkhbayar expressed his desire to head the Mongolia-Bulgaria Friendship Group, in order to ensure an even better interaction with the Mongolia Friendship Group in the Bulgarian National Assembly, chaired by Rositsa Kirova.

At a meeting with the Minister of Roads and Transport, Borkhuu Delgersaikhan Rositsa Kirova emphasized the strategic geographical location of the two countries, which makes them an important transit centre between the EU, Middle East and Asian markets. Rositsa Kirova and Borkhuu Delgersaikhan were adamant that the preparation of agreements on international road passenger and freight transport and air services is essential.
