FREDERICTON (GNB) - A coroner's inquest into the death of Kaytlyn Hemsworth will be held Jan. 27-31 at the Moncton courthouse, 145 Assomption Blvd.
Hemsworth died in the psychiatric facility of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton on April 11, 2023.
Deputy chief coroner Emily Caissy and a jury will publicly hear evidence from witnesses to determine the facts surrounding this death, including the cause and manner of death. The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances.
An inquest is a formal court proceeding that allows for the public presentation of all evidence relating to a death. The New Brunswick Coroner Service is an independent fact-finding agency that may not make any finding of legal responsibility.
The first day of the inquest is scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m. with jury selection.
