ATV Rider Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash in West Baton Rouge Parish

Port Allen - Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on July 21, 2024, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a three-vehicle crash on LA 413 just north of LA 620 in West Baton Rouge Parish. The crash claimed the life of 22-year-old Kaleb Boone of Port Allen.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Boone was operating a Honda TRX 400 ATV north on LA 413 near LA 620. A Kawasaki KX250 dirt bike was also traveling north on LA 413 in the same area as the Honda. As the Honda ATV and Kawasaki dirt bike continued northbound, the Kawasaki crossed the center of the roadway and impacted a southbound 2006 Infiniti G35 in a head-on collision. After the initial impact, the Kawasaki continued traveling north on LA 413 and struck Boone and the Honda ATV.

Boone was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The juvenile driver of the Kawasaki was also not wearing a helmet and was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Infiniti was properly restrained and uninjured in the crash. Driver impairment remains under investigation, and standard toxicology samples have been submitted for analysis.
The crash and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation at this time.
