City of Grand Junction Hosts Community Meetings for 7th Street Active Transportation Corridor

The City of Grand Junction will host two community meetings to present the draft 7th Street Active Transportation Corridor Study and gain feedback from the public.

  • Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at The Art Center of Western Colorado (1803 N. 7th St.)
  • Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. Virtual meeting

The meetings will provide an opportunity for the public to review current and proposed concepts and provide feedback.

7th Street was identified as a priority corridor in the recent Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan adopted by City Council in 2023. KLJ Engineering was selected to lead a feasibility study to explore and propose alternatives for improving various cross-sections along 7th Street including the length between Horizon Drive south to Struthers Ave. The proposed alternatives aim to balance the Level of Traffic Stress (LTS) for sidewalk and cyclist safety, vehicular delays, street tree preservation, landscaping impacts, and cost to private property.

City staff will present the proposed alternatives designed to ensure continued vehicular traffic flow while at the same time enhancing safety, accessibility, and functionality for non-vehicular users along 7th Street.

Community members can learn about the study's recommendations, ask questions, and provide their feedback at these upcoming meetings. A presentation and further opportunity for feedback will also be available at EngageGJ.org.
