Two Suspects Arrested and Three Firearms Recovered Following a Person with a Gun Call

At about 11:36 PM, on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Markeith Walton, 21, of Marlborough, and Robert Scott, 26, of Mattapan, on firearm and trespassing charges.

Officers responded to the area of 33 Stanton Street for a report of a person with a gun. Boston Police Operation advised officers that there was a group of four individuals at that location and provided officers a description of two male individuals with firearms. Officers were aware of the area and that there are multiple posted "No Trespassing" signs.

Upon arrival, officers observed four males congregating around two parked motor vehicles. As officers exited their cruisers, the individuals began to flee the area. Two suspects jumped over a fence towards Norfolk Street while another suspect entered one of the vehicles and attempted to flee.

The vehicle accelerated towards officers at a high rate of speed, striking one officer forcing him onto the hood and rolling off the side. Officers broadcasted a description of the suspect motor vehicle registration, direction of flight, and that the vehicle struck an officer. The officer struck by the motor vehicle was transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers located one of the suspects inside the parking lot and immediately placed him into handcuffs. Officers began to pursue the two suspects who jumped the fence and were able to locate one suspect in the area of 234 Norfolk Street. Officers were able to place the suspect into handcuffs, and recovered a firearm from the suspect's right shorts pocket.

Officer's attention was now drawn to the second vehicle that remained in the parking lot where the group was originally congregated around. The vehicle was unoccupied and the front passenger door was left wide open. Officers observed a firearm in plain view sitting on top of the passenger seat.

Officers began to canvass the flight path of the suspects who fled on foot and recovered a large capacity magazine, loaded with eleven rounds of ammunition. Officers also located a third firearm in a wooded area only a few feet away from the fence that the suspects jumped over.

The three firearms were later determined to be a Polymer 80 with one round in the chamber, a Smith and Wesson M&P with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine, and a Glock 43 with six rounds in the magazine.

Walton was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Trespassing. He also had a warrant for his arrest for multiple firearm offenses.

Scott was placed under arrest and charged with Trespassing.

Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
