A woman has died after a house fire in Sydney's south west.
About 6.30pm today (Tuesday 19 November 2024), emergency services were called to Cardigan Street, Auburn, following reports of a house fire.
On arrival, officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command located a house well alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire a short time after their arrival.
A woman was removed from the premises by Fire and Rescue NSW where she was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics however, she died at the scene.
Whilst yet to be formally identified the woman is believed to be the 63-year-old sole occupant of the home.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced.
