A.T. Still University-Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) student Hessam Sharifi, D3, has found an extended family in Mesa, Arizona.

"Throughout a four-year dental school program, you will interact with a set number of peers for at least eight hours daily. You feel as if you are living with every member of your family. As a family member, participating in numerous pleasant activities, such as conducting research, playing amusing games, and attending yearly talent shows, makes me happy as an ATSU-ASDOH student, Sharifi said.

Originally from Tehran, Iran, Sharifi has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California, San Diego. ATSU-ASDOH's reputation helped make it his top choice for dental school.

"I chose this school as my top preference among all accredited universities because of its renowned reputation, the welcoming atmosphere during the interview, and the confidence indicated by former graduate students regarding their clinical abilities," he said.

Sharifi quickly became involved as a student and began serving as a student ambassador in 2021.

"I've been a student ambassador for ASDOH since 2021, primarily to introduce my school, provide information, and answer all inquiries from prospective/incoming students," he said. "This endeavor requires adequate understanding before stepping in."

Ultimately, Sharifi wants to deliver superior care to his patients, something he believes ATSU-ASDOH is preparing him to do.

"Engaging in community service and collaborating with numerous professional specialists and well-mannered faculty members at ATSU-ASDOH have equipped me to accomplish this objective successfully," he said.
