Yesterday evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)/Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force arrested 52-year-old Mark Sirard of Sacramento for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. This case stemmed from information from the authorities in the United Kingdom and other law enforcement authorities overseas. His arrest is the result of a collaborative investigation by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Sirard was being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail on $50,0000 bail, but posted bond hours after being booked in and has since been released from custody.
This is an active and ongoing criminal investigation. Due to Sirard's long history of being in close proximity to children, especially in a position of trust, Detectives are concerned there may be unreported victims. Any community members with information regarding this investigation or additional unreported crimes related to Sirard are urged to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office/Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force at (916) 874-3002.
