Reaffirmation of Ordination

In response to alumni in our community who requested the opportunity to reaffirm their ordination from HUC-JIR as part of our teshuvah process, in Spring 2024 we held four Reaffirmation of Ordination ceremonies for rabbinical or cantorial alumni who were interested in taking part in this ritual of repair and healing. We are so grateful to each of the 21 rabbis who participated and received blessing, as well as to all those family and friends who were present and offered words of blessing at each of these sacred occasions. It was so moving to witness these blessings and to hear the words of acknowledgement and apology shared by our President, Dr. Andrew Rehfeld; our Provost, Rabbi Andrea Weiss; Teshuvah Director, Rabbi Rachel Maimin, and the representatives of our Board of Governors who spoke at each of our ceremonies: Rabbi Zach Shapiro; David Edelson, Chair; and Cantor Sarah Sager. It is our honor to share their words with the whole HUC-JIR community.
