Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today, joining Assemblymember Christopher Eachus to visit the Storm King Art Center, a 500-acre outdoor museum in Orange County where visitors can experience large-scale sculptures.

"Storm King is truly a gem in the Hudson Valley. I am honored to be able to tour the center and see their exciting plans for the future," said Assembly Speaker Heastie. "The Assembly Majority remains committed to providing funding for important culture epicenters across the state."

"The unique collection that can only be found here at Storm King Art Center is a sight to behold and represents creative environmentalism at its best." said Assemblymember Eachus. "Preserving and reimagining open space for the next generation, while helping the center keep up with the influx of tourists, has always been a top priority. The funding from the Assembly Majority will help maintain this cultural landmark as it continues to introduce hundreds of thousands to the beauty and immense talent of the Hudson Valley region."

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Eachus met President and CEO John P. Stern and Storm King Art Center leadership to tour the center and discuss the new welcome sequence created for visitors and the construction site of the new conservation, fabrication and maintenance building.

The Assembly Majority included $100,000 in the Enacted State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2024-25 Budget to support the center's education and public program initiatives, as well as $50,000 in SFY 2023-24 Budget for the new welcome sequence and the conservation, fabrication and maintenance building. This continued investment will ensure the center can remain an important cultural and economic aspect of the region for years to come.
