City Bids Airport Project

At their July 16 meeting, Pierre City Commissioners approved a request to bid the rehabilitation of runway 13-31 at Pierre Regional Airport.

If bids come back favorably, the city expects to remove the existing surface of 13-31's landing area and replace it with new asphalt. Additionally, the bid request calls for the installation of new lighting. The project is tentatively scheduled to begin next year.

The bid deadline is August 1.

Pierre Regional Airport had nearly 16,000 commercial enplanements last year and currently has an on-time flight record of 91%. Its commercial air carrier, Denver Air Connection, offers twelve weekly non-stop flights to Denver International Airport.

Pierre Regional Airport is home to FBO Mustang Aviation, the State of South Dakota hangar, Avera Careflight, as well as ag and general aviation services.
