In celebration of the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Portugal, which falls on October 20, the Mexican Embassy in Portugal hosted a "Fados and Boleros" concert showcasing the rich cultural heritage of both nations through music.

The concert, held yesterday at the Tivoli Theatre in Lisbon, was attended by Mexico's Ambassador to Portugal Bruno Figueroa Fischer, Portuguese Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Nuno Sampaio, diplomats and Portuguese officials from the political, economic, and cultural spheres.

UNESCO recognizes both Portuguese fado and Mexican bolero as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The concert featured performances of fados by singer Carminho and boleros by the La Santa Cecilia ensemble.

Mexico and Portugal share deep ties and a common history that strengthen their economic, political, and cultural relationships.

On behalf of the Government of Mexico, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirms its commitment to enhancing cooperation, trade, and political dialogue with Portugal, for the benefit of both nations' societies.
