NMiF discusses nuclear expansion in New Mexico & MMIP Advisory Council

This week on New Mexico in Focus, KUNM's Megan Kamerick hosts a two-part conversation about a recent town hall meeting where federal officials heard concerns from residents about nuclear production and storage in our state. In the first half, two anti-nuclear advocates tell Megan why the meeting felt like "DC comes to New Mexico and does things DC's way." Then, the conversation shifts to how the state's history of nuclear production will continue to impact New Mexicans for generations to come.
New Mexico in Depth reporter Bella Davis breaks down with Executive Producer Jeff Proctor what we know and don't know about a new advisory council on missing and murdered Indigenous people.
In the second of a two-part interview, Peter Simonson talks with Jeff about how his organization has changed since he began working at the ACLU of New Mexico in 2000.
NMiF airs on NMPBS 5.1 (KNME HD) on Friday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 4 at 7 a.m., and streaming on the PBS video app.
