Aug. 28, 2024

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Chandler Fire Department has been reaccredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International following a rigorous year-long process. Chandler was first accredited in 1999 and has been reaccredited every five years since.

"This exceptional evaluation shows that Chandler is one of the finest fire departments in the nation," said Chandler Fire Chief Tom Dwiggins. "It is a testament to the talented people who serve Chandler and the tremendous support we've received from the community."

To earn accreditation, Chandler Fire was tasked with undergoing a strategic assessment of their resource deployment model, developing continuous quality improvement initiatives and presenting findings to a commission of leaders within the Fire Service.

The Commission on Fire Accreditation International helps fire and emergency service agencies examine past, current and future service levels, evaluate internal performance and compare them to industry best practices.

This rigorous peer review and self-assessment leads to improved operations and service delivery for the community. By successfully completing this process, Chandler Fire has demonstrated that it is among the best, most cost efficient and effective public safety organizations in the nation.

Chandler Fire is among the nation's elite fire departments having achieved both accreditation and the Insurance Services Office Class 1 distinction for innovative fire protection method, placing it among the top one percent of departments in the country.
