Separate Truck Detour Now in Place for Emergency Closure on Route 147 in Reed Twp., Dauphin County

Road closed by flood damage

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a truck detour has been implemented for the Route 147 emergency closure between Route 22/322 and Route 225 in Reed Township, Dauphin County. The road was closed Friday due to flood damage.

A truck restriction was temporarily lifted on Route 225 (Peters Mountain Road) so both cars and trucks could also use it until a separate truck detour could be implemented. The detour for trucks is now in place. The truck restriction for Route 225 has been reinstated. Cars may continue to use Route 225 as the detour.

Trucks heading north will take Route 22/322 west to Route 11/15 north to Shamokin Dam, then Route 61 south to Sunbury and Route 147 south.

Southbound truck traffic will take Route 209 north to Interstate 81 south to Route 322 west to Route 147.

A utility project and associated daytime closure on Route 225 has been suspended while the road is used as a car detour.

Repairs have begun and could take about 30 days to complete. New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., is the contractor for this work.
