Sympathy to the Family and Former Colleagues of Louis Semrau, Emeritus Professor

JONESBORO - The university community extends sympathy to the family, friends and former colleagues of Louis Semrau of Portland, Maine, who died July 24.

Semrau, who joined the A-State faculty in 1977, taught for 24 years. He was named emeritus professor of special education upon his retirement in 2001.

Earlier in his career he served in the Peace Corps then taught at the University of North Carolina. He completed his master's degree at Peabody College and his doctorate at the University of Oregon.

Survivors include his children, Lita and Tony, and their families, along with three siblings. The complete obituary is online.

The clock tower of the Dean B. Ellis Library will be lighted scarlet Thursday, Aug. 15, in memorial tribute to Semrau for his service and his contributions to higher education and Arkansas State University.
