Eastern University Begins State-of-the-Art Renovations on Baseball Field

September 16, 2024

St. Davids, PA: Eastern University is excited to announce upcoming state-of-the-art renovations to the Baseball field on its St. Davids campus. The field will be completely renovated to a synthetic turf that will be playable year-round. The renovations will also include new dugouts, bullpens, padding on all walls, batting cages, a sound system, and a large video board. All of these features will significantly elevate the team's in-game experience and provide an enhanced venue for fans, players, and the broader campus community.

"I am thrilled to see this project coming to fruition," says Eric McNelley, Director of Athletics at Eastern University. "Growing our Baseball program has been a major focus of ours in recent years. Head Coach Scott Renauro, his staff, and all our talented players deserve a facility that can compete at a championship level. I look forward to watching the program continue to build upon its recent successes."

These improvements reflect Eastern University's dedication to supporting student interests, cultivating a vibrant campus atmosphere, and nurturing a strong sense of community and school pride.

"I'm incredibly grateful for the University's commitment to our program," says Scott Renauro '12, Head Coach of Eastern's baseball team. "This upgraded facility will not only improve our training and game-day experiences but also inspire our players to reach new heights and achieve their personal goals. As an alum of Eastern Baseball, it's exciting to see the program's growth and the University's dedication to supporting that growth. These renovations show our players that our University is as committed as they are to their accomplishments. I'm excited to see how these renovations will help us continue to grow as a team and as a community."

In the 2024 season, the Eagles won eight of their final nine games to post their first 20-win season since 2012. Additionally, four players earned All-Conference recognition, and between its varsity and developmental teams, Eastern rostered 72 athletes for the 23-24 season.

"These renovations represent another exciting step forward for our campus community," says Ron Matthews, President of Eastern University. "This project is more than enhancing a sports facility; it's about creating a dynamic space where our students, faculty, staff, families, and neighbors can come together, enjoy the competition, celebrate, and build lasting memories."

McNelley adds: "We have a rich baseball history at Eastern with some great coaches and players that date back decades. My hope is that our deep commitment to the sport will enhance the sense of pride and connection that so many baseball alumni already feel with our program at Eastern."

The project is set to be completed by Spring 2025, and the university community eagerly anticipates the first game on the new field. We deeply appreciate contributions of any size from those interested in supportingthis project. Keep up with the baseball team here!
