Meet Our New Board Members
Rebecca Spencer, eBay's Chief Accounting Officer, brings to the Foundation an extensive financial expertise and dedication to community empowerment. With six years of experience at eBay, Rebecca is poised to enhance the Foundation's mission of empowering communities to grow through entrepreneurship.
Her previous roles include Controllership positions at GE Aviation and audit and advisory work at Ernst & Young LLP, providing her with a strong foundation in financial oversight. Rebecca also served 23 years in the US Air Force Reserves, most recently on the 445th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. Rebecca is a certified public accountant (non-practicing) and has a Bachelor of Science in Business in Accountancy from Wright State University.
Rebecca's financial acumen and commitment to service make her a valuable addition to the eBay Foundation board.
"I am honored and elated to join the eBay Foundation Board as the Chief Financial Officer of the Board," said Rebecca. "I value this special opportunity to contribute directly to the direction and impact of the Foundation's mission and to enrich and empower communities by connecting people to opportunities and resources."
Scott Andrews brings a wealth of legal expertise and a deep commitment to community empowerment to the eBay Foundation Board of Directors, where he will serve as a member and Secretary of the Board. Scott is a Legal Director who has been with eBay for over a decade. Over the years, he has held leadership positions across fields like intellectual property, third-party risk management, and Mergers & Acquisitions. He also served as an advisor and counsel with organizations including eBay Inc.'s Board of Directors and StubHub.
Scott has previously worked with the Foundation, both as a lawyer as well as in a pro bono capacity for one of their strategic grantees, giving legal advice to entrepreneurs from marginalized groups. This is an extension of his work on eBay's Legal Pro Bono Committee, an internal organization that helps lawyers and non-lawyers worldwide contribute their specialized skills to those in need.
"I look forward to having an additional way to support the good work of the eBay Foundation," said Scott. "Working with the Foundation as a lawyer has already been incredibly rewarding. Officially joining the Foundation's work will be another meaningful step on the same path!"
Partnering To Expand Economic Opportunities
Rebecca and Scott's expertise will enhance the Foundation's governing body and bolster their ability to tackle systemic barriers that help make entrepreneurship accessible to everyone.
The Foundation's strategic approach focuses on partnering with nonprofits to remove barriers to entrepreneurship, supporting capital and connections for growth, and addressing long-term systemic issues inhibiting the success of entrepreneurs of all backgrounds.
Since 1998, over $120 million has been granted globally, including nearly 3 million in Q3 2024 alone. The Foundation also drives this mission internally at eBay, providing meaningful volunteering and giving opportunities and enabling eBay employees to play a part in enacting its commitment to community empowerment and systemic change.
