For anyone contemplating starting a small business, expanding an existing business or knowing where to go for needed funding, these thoughts alone can be daunting. However, advice and assistance are available.
P.J. Burns will discuss the basics of business financing during a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network webinar titled "Funding Your Small Business Startup or Expansion" Tuesday, Nov. 26, from noon-1:30 p.m. To register, go here. Registration is free. The Wyoming Small Business Administration (SBA) District Office is co-sponsoring the event.
The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA.
The webinar will cover traditional financing; the five C's of credit -- capacity, capital, collateral, conditions and character; funding options; and essential steps to take before seeking funding, including figuring out how much capital is needed as well as how to prepare a realistic budget and business financial forecast.
Burns is the Wyoming SBDC Network's regional director for Campbell, Crook, Johnson, Sheridan and Weston counties. She has spent the majority of her career advising and advocating for small businesses in her roles at chambers of commerce and economic development organizations.
