This semester, students in The Mill Agency-Stevenson's full-service, student-run advertising, design, and communications agency within the School of Design, Arts, and Communication-are working with the Merriweather Arts and Culture Center to research and share the history of the renowned Merriweather Post Pavilion concert venue.
The students have conducted extensive research on the development of Columbia, greater Howard County, and the pavilion itself. In close cooperation with the Merriweather Arts and Culture Center, the students are working to share the stories they've unearthed in their research by developing a podcast, merchandise, and a community archive.
"We are partnered with Merriweather Arts and Culture Center, which has been a great opportunity to work with real clients and learn more about Merriweather's history," said Samantha DeGraff, a Graphic Design major in The Mill Agency. "I am on the merchandising team in The Mill Agency, where we have been brainstorming different design solutions to best tell their story throughout the years. My team is designing shirts, sweatshirts, wristbands, and stickers to be sold at Merriweather events and online."
As part of their project, the students recently received an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of Merriweather Post Pavilion. Photos from their tour are visible in the gallery below.
