In November “Digital Week in Latin America and the Caribbean” Will Be Held at ECLAC

The main leaders and decision-makers on digital matters in the public and private sectors, the technical community and civil society from both the region and the European Union will meet on November 5-8, 2024 at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile, to participate in the "Digital Week in Latin America and the Caribbean."

On November 7-8, the Ninth Ministerial Conference on the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbeanwill be held, with the aim of reviewing implementation of the Digital Agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean (eLAC 2024), in addition to moving forward on cooperation commitments and adopting the new Digital Agenda that will guide the region's future over the next two years (eLAC2026). The Ministerial Conference on the Information Society is one of ECLAC's subsidiary bodies.

At this event, ECLAC will present a position document entitled Overcoming Development Traps in Latin America and the Caribbean in the Digital Age: The Transformative Potential of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.

Prior to the start of the Conference's official activities, on November 5-6, the European Union-Latin America and the Caribbean Digital Alliance's High-level Dialogues on Artificial Intelligence and Connectivity will take place.

These high-level bi-regional policy dialogues provide a platform for governments to share experiences and good practices from both regions. The Alliance reflects their determination to collaborate on key digital matters, through dialogue and concrete joint actions, promoting a digital transformation that is centered on human beings.
