Camille Nuamah Announced as World Bank Group Manager for Bolivia

La Paz, July 1, 2024 - Starting today, Camille Nuamah becomes the World Bank Group Country Manager for Bolivia, a position that will unify country-level leadership across the institution to better support Bolivia's public and private sector priorities. This newly created position provides a single point of contact for access to the full breadth of World Bank Group products and services and will enhance the institutions' ability to address global challenges, and drive development with speed, efficiency, and impact.

The introduction ofjoint country representation is an important step towards building a stronger World Bank Group. Bolivia is one of 21 World Bank Group offices transitioning to a single World Bank Group Country Manager or Resident Representative for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).

"Bolivia experienced notable success in reducing poverty and inequalitybut faces remaining challenges ranging from climate resilience to enhancing competitiveness and generating quality jobs," said Camille Nuamah, World Bank Group Country Manager for Bolivia. "Unified Bank Group leadership will improve our speed and make us a better partner to the government, the private sector, and ultimately the people we serve."

The World Bank Group is committed to continuing its support for the country in improving the lives of its people by enhancing climate and economic resilience, increasing income for vulnerable households, and expanding access to quality public services. The current financing portfolio focuses on the transport, rural development and agriculture, urban resilience, energy, and water sectors. Furthermore, the WBG will continue to explore opportunities to work with financial intermediaries with the aim of fostering climate finance and financial inclusion, particularly focusing on women, as well as financing foreign trade operations, among other areas with private sector.

Since joining the World Bank in 1997, Camille Nuamah has served in different roles, including as the World Bank Operations Manager for Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, and Uganda, Advisor in Latin America and the Caribbean and the Europe and Central Asia region, and Country Manager in Albania, Nicaragua, and Zimbabwe. Camille Nuamah, a Jamaican national, is an industrial organization economist from Columbia University, the University of Cambridge, and New York University.
