ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University psychologist and researcher Raymond C. Tait, Ph.D., was honored with the 2020 Science Leadership Award from the Academy of Science St. Louis for his work as a clinician and researcher studying multi-disciplinary approaches to chronic pain.

Tait, professor emeritus in psychiatry and behavioral neuroscience, was honored at the 26th annual Academy of Science - St. Louis award dinner last month for his lifetime of work in the field. The ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A clinical psychologist, Tait has studied and treated pain for nearly 40 years.

In 1982, he founded a successful multi-disciplinary treatment program for chronic pain at SLU. During that time, he observed many instances where patients were evaluated by providers who often reached very different clinical conclusions.
