Officers Recovered a Loaded Firearm in Dorchester

At about 7:51 PM, on September 3, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Anthony Cooper-Hall, 19, of Dorchester, on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 95 Fowler Street for a report of a large group causing a disturbance. Officers observed the group to be drinking alcoholic beverages on the sidewalk and a second smaller group sitting near a park bench.

Officers approached the smaller group who quickly separated after seeing officers on scene. Officers could see that a backpack was discarded underneath the bench where the individuals were sitting.

Officers conducted a pat frisk of the backpack and recovered a firearm from inside. Officers immediately detained the individuals, due to the presence of a firearm. Officers were able to locate inside the backpack an RMV letter with a suspect's name on it.

The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 43 with nine rounds in the magazine, and equipped with a laser sight attachment. Officers also recovered from the backpack, four plastic bags of marijuana, two scales, and $320 in US currency.

Cooper-Hall was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
