Dedication for historical marker at McGuire Dent on Sept. 28

This Saturday, September 28^th at 10am there will be a public dedication ceremony for a new historical marker for Jessie McGuire Dent. The ceremony will begin inside the gymnasium at the McGuire Dent recreation center and will conclude with the unveiling of the marker by Jessie McGuire Dent's Delta Sigma Theta sisters. Please join us in honoring this civil rights activist and Galveston icon.

This marker was applied for by the African American Heritage Committee at the Galveston Historical Foundation and awarded by the Texas Historical Commission. The City of Galveston thanks our community partners for this fantastic addition to our facility grounds and addition to the education of the public on Jessie McGuire Dent's legacy.
