State Police arrested a Yonkers and Tuckahoe following a pursuit ...

On August 16, 2024, at approximately 11:59 a.m., State Police Wurtsboro responded to a complaint of a grey convertible sedan operating at a slow rate of speed and failing to maintain its lane on Route 209 in the town of Mamakating. A trooper located the vehicle, a 2011 Mercedes Benz convertible traveling southbound on US-209. The trooper observed the vehicle swerving into oncoming traffic before swerving back into the southbound lane. The Trooper stopped the vehicle and identified the two occupants. The driver was identified as Martin Gjurashaj, age 45 of Yonkers and Daniel Curanovic, age 27 of Tuckahoe NY as the passenger. While the trooper was speaking to Giurashaj, he placed the vehicle in drive and fled the scene.

The vehicle entered State Route 17 traveling east at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck a marked State Police vehicle on State Route 17 in the town of Monroe and continued east on State Route 17. The pursuit continued eastbound and ended on the entrance ramp of Interstate 87 northbound when the Mercedes stuck an uninvolved vehicle. GJURASHAJ, and CURANOVIC were both arrested and transported to Garnet Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

Gjurashi was charged with: DWAI Drugs, Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, and Criminal Mischief. He was remanded to Sullivan County Jail

Curanovic was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree and released on an Appearance Ticket.
