Camden County Remains in State of Emergency Post Hurricane Helene

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Camden County remains under both local and state declarations of emergency as recovery efforts continue. While some roads are now open, residents are urged to limit travel to essential needs only. Roads may still be hazardous due to debris, inoperable traffic signals, downed powerlines, and ongoing detours. Please use extreme caution in necessary travel.

Communication Outages:
Many government offices are experiencing phone outages, and cell phone coverage remains inconsistent across various areas of the county. We appreciate your patience as services are restored.

Shelters and Assistance:
The Public Service Authority (PSA) Shelter will remain temporarily open for residents in need with support from the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross. These organizations, along with County staff, are actively providing aid and resources.

Reporting Damage:
Residents are encouraged to report property damage through the Camden County online portal, which is available on our website at https://report-ga-camden.orioncentral.com/. This reporting tool helps the county coordinate recovery efforts and ensure timely assistance, but is not affiliated with insurance claims.

Debris Removal for Citizens:
For residential debris, residents of unincorporated Camden County, Kingsland, and St. Marys may place debris along the right-of-way for removal, but no more than 20 feet from the road. Debris must be well separated in the following categories: appliances, construction material, hazardous waste, electronics, and vegetative yard debris.

DRC debris hauling service will be removing the right-of-way debris beginning Tuesday, October 1, 2024 and will continue until completed. Please be advised that grass may be impacted where debris is stacked.

Additionally, Camden County has also designated Old Still Road laydown yard for residential vegetative yard debris drop-off on Saturday, September 28, 2024 and Monday, September 30, 2024 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Commercial Debris Disposal:
Businesses are required to dispose of debris directly at the Camden County C & D Landfill. Please follow all county guidelines for proper disposal to assist with the cleanup process.
