Cenovus Energy gives $200K to support engineering tech

The Ohio State University at Lima recognized Cenovus Energy Lima Refinery's long-term commitment to helping grow a vibrant engineering technology program with the unveiling of the Cenovus Energy Lima Refinery Rotunda in the Engineering Education and Manufacturing Center, the academic home of Lima's engineering technology program.

Cenovus Energy Lima Refinery is continuing its support of the students in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology program at Ohio State Lima with a $200,000 gift. At the start of the program, Cenovus guaranteed a $1,000 scholarship to every student enrolled in engineering technology. The new gift will ensure those students will be working with the latest manufacturing technology and equipment, the same that they will encounter when they move into the workforce.

"We continue to need really good people to run our facility," said Greg Phillips, Lima Refinery director of planning, economic and technical services. "A person with an engineering technology degree would be considered for jobs at the refinery in project or reliability engineering, supervisory or planning roles with our Maintenance Department, and process controls work. Ohio State's engineering technology graduates are continuous learners, problem solvers, and leaders -- the kind of people we're looking for."

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology responds to Ohio manufacturers' requests for highly skilled engineers who possess general manufacturing engineering technology skills that marry business and leadership principles to engineering processes and technical knowledge.
