JONESBORO - The university community extends sympathy to the family, friends and former colleagues of Dr. John Kaminarides of Williamsburg, Va., who died Nov. 8. Kaminarides was a faculty member at Arkansas State University from 1968 until 2001, when he was named emeritus professor of economics.

A Fulbright scholar, Dr. Kaminarides arrived in the U.S. in 1958, earning his bachelor's degree in economics at UCLA and later obtaining his master's and doctoral degrees at the University of Houston.

He directed the Office of Business Research and was known throughout the region for his involvement with organizing conferences on economic and business issues.

After his 33 years of teaching and service at A-State, he continued to pursue his research interests, completing his third book in 2023.

Survivors include a son and daughter and their families. A funeral service was held in Williamsburg. His complete obituary is online.

The clock tower of the Dean B. Ellis Library will be darkened Monday, Nov. 25, in memorial tribute to Kaminarides for his contributions to higher education and Arkansas State University.
