NOPD Arrests Three Suspects in Homicide Investigation

On July 1, 2024, the NOPD arrested three suspects in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on June 30, 2024, in the 700 block of Saint Peter Street.

At about 4:41 p.m. on June 30, NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the intersection of Royal and St. Peter streets. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female victim seated in a vehicle and having sustained a gunshot wound(s). The victim was subsequently declared deceased on scene.

Today (July 2, 2024), the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office identified the victim as 43-year-old Kristie Thibodeaux and determined official cause of death to be from gunshot-related injury.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified three individuals as suspects in this incident - Jerben Albarec (black male, DOB: 06-02-2007), Joshua Aviala-Bonifacio (black male, DOB: 05-21-2005) and a 16-year-old juvenile black male.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for each suspect. The suspects were each located, arrested and booked on one count each of second-degree murder and for attempted armed robbery. The attempted armed robbery charges were made as detectives determined the homicide occurred during the attempted commission of an armed robbery.

The results of this investigation come from a collaborative success worked by the New Orleans Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana State Police and FBI New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force /Violent Crime Abatement and Investigative Team.
