WTO complaint against US anti-dumping measure on Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG)

On 10 and 11 July, a hearing was held at the World Trade Organization (WTO) headquarters in Geneva before a panel established by its Dispute Settlement Body, where the Argentine Government presented its arguments in favour of Argentina's exports of OCTG-a key input for gas and oil exploration and exploitation-to the US, in response to an anti-dumping measure imposed in November 2022.

At the hearing, which was open to the public and broadcast-for the first time- via livestreaming, the Argentine team handling the case explained to the panel the grounds for the claim requesting that the measure imposed by the US be removed.

SIDERCA-a Techint Group company-exports OCTG pipes from Argentina to meet the demand of the US market, the largest in the world. The company remains highly competitive in that market, despite having a limited export volume due to a quota imposed by the US Government in 2018.

By means of concrete actions of this kind, the Argentine Government supports the business of Argentine companies abroad, as well as their exporting efforts, which are key to increasing foreign currency reserves.
