On October 22, 2024, the Twentieth Judicial Circuit celebrated Pro Bono Week with heartfelt recognition of local attorneys whose dedication have significantly expanded access to justice in the community. The event took place at Bennie's Pizza to honor the impactful work of pro bono service.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Joseph Bartylak Pro Bono Award, awarded to Felix Losco for his unwavering commitment to providing free legal assistance in family law. The award was presented by Megan Kinney and Nathan Elwood, representatives from Land of Lincoln Legal Foundation, who shared insights into Losco's remarkable career as a Judge Advocate General for the Air Force and his continued service post-retirement with the legal aid agency.

Chief Judge Andrew Gleeson delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the vital role of pro bono work in making justice a reality for all members of the community. "We must continue to strive for a justice system that is accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances," Gleeson stated.

Felix Losco expressed profound gratitude for being able to serve through Land of Lincoln. "I thank Land of Lincoln for allowing me the opportunity to help those in need," he said, underscoring the importance of pro bono work in his life and the lives of the clients he serves.

This event not only celebrated individual contributions but also highlighted the collective efforts of volunteers who make a difference every day. Pro Bono Week serves as a reminder of the crucial role that legal professionals play in ensuring access to justice for all.
