We have had another successful year participating in Loughborough University's Micro Internship Programme. Over the past month we have had three students working within our corporate services function and providing support to the Marketing, HR and Finance teams.
The interns have been based in our London office, gaining insight into each of our corporate functions and experiencing what it is like to work in a professional environment.
Below our 2024 interns reflect on their time with us.
Jeremiah Adams, Finance Intern
"To put it simply, my time at Aquila was amazing. Before this internship, I had never worked within financial department, so I didn't entirely know what to expect. However, this internship went above and beyond any expectation. More specifically, it was really exciting to apply aspects that I have covered in lectures into a real business such as invoicing, preparation of year-end financial statement and analysing receivables and payables. I have learnt a lot from this internship and I would definitely recommend."
Josephine Karieren, HR Intern
"My time at Aquila has been extremely rewarding. This internship has taught me just how much HR encompasses and allowed me to gain hands-on experience in the field. Sitting in on meetings and speaking to people in the office has given me an insightful taste of the corporate setting and provided me with valuable skills and knowledge for the future. The team has been very welcoming as well as accommodating of specific things I want to learn and take interest in. It has been the perfect avenue to explore HR and helped me realise that this is the career path I want to go down."
Samar Altai, Marketing Intern
"Working at Aquila was more than just an internship. It felt as though I was part of the community. Despite having less knowledge and work experience, I was not undermined or disregarded in any way. The team took every opportunity to teach me and accommodate me in many ways. As a marketing intern, I got to see first-hand the importance of organisational structure and how Aquila works as a family to produce the best outcome. I do believe I am leaving with much more knowledge and experience than when I began the internship."
